Green light recommended for ‘landmark’ office building

The proposed development of a new landmark 300,000 sq ft office building in Leeds city centre looks set to get the go-ahead from councillors next week (6 January 2020).McLaren Property, supported by WYG and Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher, submitted an application to Leeds City Council in August 2019 for a site on Wellington Street.Planning permission is sought for the demolition of the three existing office buildings on the site and construction of a new 17-storey development.The proposed building would provide a total of 330,000 sq ft of space, and would predominantly comprise office space, together with ground-floor commercial units.A basement car park 120 car parking spaces and a cycle hub would also be provided.The application will go before the council’s City Plans Panel on 6 January and is recommended for approval, subject to conditions, in an officer’s report prepared for the meeting.The project team also includes Avison Young, Hoare Lea, Meinhardt, Gardiner & Theobald, ORSA, Gillespies, FD Global and Fore Consulting.
